Ciara Speaks About Journey To Self-Discovery: Why She Ended Things With Future

In a candid conversation on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Grammy-winning singer Ciara, 37, shared her profound journey of self-discovery and the pivotal moment that led her to end her relationship with ex-partner Future. Reflecting on her past, Ciara revealed that the realization of needing a change gradually dawned upon her.

“It’s almost like your taste buds change,” Ciara explained. “You gotta also sometimes look in the mirror and reflect on yourself, like what are things that I could be doing differently in my life? I’m looking for a change but what does that mean?”

Becoming a mother also played a significant role in Ciara’s decision-making process. She and Future, who started dating in 2012 and later got engaged, welcomed their son, Future Zahir, in May 2014 before parting ways that same year.

Ciara emphasized the importance of responsibility that comes with parenthood. “When you have a child, it’s very important to me; it’s no time to play around. I am now responsible for another life, so what am I doing, how am I thinking that through?” she stated.

Her desire for joy and fulfillment in a relationship became clear to her, she revealed, adding, “I want joy. I want to make sure my cup is full.” 

Reflecting on her time with Future, she added, “When you’re tired, you’re tired, and don’t nobody want to be tired all the time.”

These considerations weighed heavily on Ciara’s mind when she made the pivotal decision to move forward in her life.

Following her breakup with Future, Ciara found love and happiness in the arms of NFL star Russell Wilson. They tied the knot in July 2016 and have since welcomed two children, Sienna and Win, with a third child on the way. 

While Ciara and Future continue to co-parent their son, their relationship remains complicated. Future’s recent song Turn Yo Clic Up hinted at tensions, and he appeared to take a swipe at Russell in the lyrics. This ongoing tension has been a challenge for Ciara, who has been navigating co-parenting in the public eye.

Over the years, Future has made public allegations against Ciara, including claims that she prevented him from seeing their son. These allegations have stirred controversy and led to discussions about child support. However, Ciara has consistently emphasized her dedication to responsible co-parenting, even as a source close to the Body Party singer confirmed it, saying, “Ciara has never prevented him from seeing his child.”
