Angelina Jolie Teams Up With French Director For High Fashion Film “Stitches”
Angelina Jolie is heading back to Paris, this time as the lead in an exciting new film titled Stitches. Directed by acclaimed French filmmaker Alice Winocour, the movie is set in the glamorous world of high fashion and unfolds during Paris Fashion Week. Angelina will play a filmmaker whose story intersects with two other women, though further details about the plot and additional cast members remain under wraps.
The film is notable for being Winocour’s first English-language project, though it will be shot in both English and French. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2025, with Paris serving as the primary backdrop.
Angelina’s connection to Paris has grown deeper in recent years. She recently filmed Maria in the French capital, where she took on the role of opera legend Maria Callas. The Netflix biopic, directed by Pablo Larraín (Jackie, Spencer), explores Maria’s final days as she reflects on a tumultuous life filled with public acclaim and personal heartbreak. Maria is set to begin streaming on December 11, following a limited theatrical release starting Nov. 27.
Angelina’s portrayal of Callas has already received critical acclaim. The film debuted at the Venice Film Festival in August, earning standing ovations and glowing reviews from critics. It later screened at the Telluride and New York Film Festivals, further solidifying the actress’ reputation as a powerhouse performer.
A source close to the actress shared that she was “overwhelmed and so grateful for all the positive feedback.”
This renewed focus on acting marks a significant moment in Angelina’s career. Her appearance at the 15th Governors Awards on Nov. 17 to promote Maria highlighted her return to the spotlight as an actor, following a brief hiatus since her role in Marvel’s Eternals in 2021.
In addition to Stitches, Angelina has several projects lined up. She will star in Maude v Maude, an action-packed thriller alongside Halle Berry, as well as the third installment of Disney’s Maleficent franchise.
