Mexican Singer Dulce La Cantante Passes Away At 69
Mexican music icon Dulce La Cantante has passed away at the age of 69. Her family confirmed the heartbreaking news on Facebook on December 25, writing, “It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the passing of our beloved singer, Dulce. We appreciate your support and respect for the family during these difficult times.”
Dulce’s sister, Isabel Noeggerath, also shared her grief on social media, writing, “Sister, you’re already with our mom in heaven singing to her. I’m going to miss you. Rest in peace. I love you.”
A tribute video was posted on Dulce’s official Instagram account, celebrating her legacy with photos spanning her lifetime. The caption honored her impact: “With a career that transcended borders and genres, Dulce became one of the most iconic voices Mexico has given, a legacy that makes us vibrate and reflect.”
Born Bertha Elisa Noeggerath Cárdenas in 1955 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Dulce began her career in the 1970s with the band Toby y Sus Amigos. Her solo career soared in the 1980s, thanks to the support of legendary singer José José. She went on to deliver unforgettable hits like Lobo, Déjame Volver Contigo, Tu Muñeca, and Soy Tu Dama.
Beyond her music, Dulce also appeared in soap operas and the Netflix reality series Siempre Reinas (Forever Queens). In 2022, she toured with the celebrated musical group Grandiosas.
In early 2024, Dulce revealed her battle with a kidney tumor, which was later confirmed as cancerous. After undergoing pleuropulmonary decortication surgery in December, she was hopeful about recovery. “I am calm, in good hands, and confident that I will soon be fully recovered,” she assured fans in an Instagram statement.
However, complications arose when the singer developed pneumonia. Her son-in-law, Moisés González, explained, “[Dulce] is still exhausted from the operation. It was a rather complex operation and she comes out in a lot of pain after it.”
