Angelina Jolie still has nothing but love for Jonny Lee Miller, more than 25 years after their divorce. While speaking at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 5, the actress, 49, reflected on their time together, both on and off-screen.
During the event, Angelia was shown clips from her past movies, including Hackers — the 1995 cult classic where she starred alongside Jonny. The two met while filming, got married in 1996, and divorced in 1999. Watching the scene play out in front of a large audience, she couldn’t help but smile. “Yeah, it’s Jonny. I just talked to him. I love that — I get to see my ex-husband with 2,000 people,” she joked.
Even though their romantic relationship ended, their friendship remained strong. “But I do have a wonderful relationship with Jonny,” Angelina shared, “and he and I have sons the same age, and I’m so happy.”
Jonny later married actress Michele Hicks, with whom he shares son Buster. Angelina, on the other hand, went on to marry Billy Bob Thornton and later Brad Pitt, with whom she shares six children. Back in 2021, she was spotted at Jonny’s New York apartment, and sources at the time revealed that their sons, Buster and Knox, now 16, are good friends.
The Hackers cast also included Jesse Bradford, Matthew Lillard, Fisher Stevens, Lorraine Bracco, and Marc Anthony. The film’s director, Iain Softley, hinted in a 2020 interview that a sequel was being considered. However, he admitted that a film like that in today’s world is far more complicated than it was in 1994. “It’s much more dangerous that it would become outdated almost as soon as the film’s released,” he explained.
Angelina rarely watches her old movies, so seeing Hackers on the big screen again was a special moment. “”Actually, it’s funny, I don’t really watch my own films, and so I [don’t] think I’ve seen it since the premiere,” she admitted.
