Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s Kids Remain Close After Divorce, Sources Say
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez may have closed the chapter on their marriage, but the bond between their families remains untouched. Sources tell PEOPLE that even after finalizing their divorce earlier this year, the pair are keeping things friendly not just for themselves, but for their children.
“Things between Ben and Jennifer are good,” an insider close to Ben shared. “Even though they’re not together anymore, they’ve stayed on friendly terms.”
Their kids remain a major reason why. Ben, 53, shares 19-year-old Violet, 16-year-old Seraphina and 13-year-old Samuel with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, while Jennifer, 56, co-parents 17-year-old twins Max and Emme with Marc Anthony. According to multiple sources, the kids have grown close and continue to spend time together despite the split.
“They have the same groups of friends, they see each other and they talk all the time,” says the source. “They make sure the kids know they get along. The most important thing to both of them is raising their kids in a supportive environment, so they plan to stay in each other’s lives.”
Jennifer’s love for Ben’s children was also highlighted. “She’s a great mom and always gave Ben’s kids the same love,” an insider from her camp noted, adding that even though her contact with Ben is less frequent now, she ensures the kids can stay connected whenever they want.
Their breakup came two decades after their first engagement collapsed under the weight of early-2000s tabloid frenzy. The two reunited in 2021, tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022, and celebrated again with a grand Georgia wedding the following month. But by August 2024, on the second anniversary of that ceremony, Jennifer filed for divorce.
Still, both stars seem to be focusing on growth and resilience. In a candid interview with El País earlier this year, Jennifer shared how she guided her twins through the tough period. “I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that and I did it. And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life,” she revealed.
Reflecting on how far she has come, Jennifer added: “…I’m proud that I was able to navigate my children through difficult times, that they’re stronger and better because of it. So it’s a great time to go out there and dance and sing and have a good time with everybody.”
