Britney Spears Set to Collaborate with Top Artists for Unique Duets Album
After the tremendous success of her recent single Hold Me Closer with music legend Sir Elton John, Britney Spears is gearing up to head into the studio once again, this time to record an entire album of duets. The 41-year-old pop sensation, known for her chart-topping hits like “Toxic” and “Baby One More Time,” has been receiving immense support from fellow artists, including Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Sam Smith, who might be collaborating with her on the album.
Britney, who last released a full-length album in 2016 titled Glory, has no immediate plans for promoting new music or embarking on extensive tours. Instead, she sees the duets album as an excellent opportunity to connect with her fans in a more intimate way. A music insider shared with The Sun, “Britney will not go out and promote anything current, so a duets album is a good way of her avoiding having to do any promotion while still getting the tracks played around the world.”
The unnamed source further explained that Britney’s love for releasing music is what drives her to explore this avenue, enabling her to stay relevant in the industry while taking the time to determine her next steps. The insider stated, “Each day is being taken as it comes, and this is a very low-risk way of staying connected with her fans while also opening up some amazing collaborations.”
The announcement of the duets album comes as Britney continues to regain control of her life after enduring a strict conservatorship led by her father, Jamie Spears, for over a decade. The talented artist, who endured tremendous hardships during that period, is now embracing her newfound freedom and artistic independence.
However, it’s important to note that Britney’s past experiences have left her with reservations about embarking on extensive tours. A source close to the singer revealed to PageSix that she will not be going on a tour anytime soon. “Britney has trauma from touring. For so many years, she was handed grueling itineraries and made to perform – even before her conservatorship,” the source said.
The breaking point for Britney reportedly occurred in 2018 when her team transformed her successful Las Vegas residency, Britney: Piece of Me, into an international tour spanning over 30 stops and planned for a new multi-year residency in Las Vegas, Britney: Domination. This decision left her longing for a break, which she never received.
The dramatic shift in Britney’s life began in 2021 when she found the courage to speak out against the conservatorship that had tightly controlled every aspect of her existence since her highly publicized breakdown in 2007. She accused her father and managers of mistreatment and expressed her desire to see them held accountable for their actions. In November 2021, a judge in Los Angeles terminated the conservatorship, granting Britney control over her own life for the first time in 13 years. Now that she can call her own shots, she is trying to take things slow.
