Florence Pugh Hit in the Face at Dune: Part Two Panel as Fan Throws Object
Historically, notorious fans have been throwing random objects at artists. The latest victim of this was none other than Florence Pugh while she was promoting Dune: Part Two, along with her co-actors.
Recently, Pugh (29), Zendaya (27), Timothée Chalamet (27), Austin Butler (32), and director Denis Villeneuve (56) were in São Paolo, Brazil, to promote their upcoming film, Dune: Part Two. However, the Little Women actress encountered an unexpected and unfortunate incident while promoting her new film.
According to a recording, the 29-year-old actress was hit with an object that was flung by someone from the crowd. Needless to say, the actress was shocked and slightly taken aback. She is then saying “Ow” before touching her face where the object landed — just above the eye — and crouching down to grab the item.
Co-stars also appeared to be surprised as they looked at her following the incident. They appeared to check if she was okay and soon ended the photocall.
This incident occurred right after Pugh had spoken on a panel about the forthcoming film. She said “I had an amazing time coming in and just hanging around with these people, let alone actually getting to work with them,” She continued, “Coming in here — the power in this room — is because of that first movie, and we felt that when we went on set every single day. So it feels really, really special being here with the second one.”
While sources haven’t confirmed what the object was or if the person guilty has been identified and charged, this is not the first-time an artist has experienced “rage” from the audience.
More recently, during her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift had to beg fans not to throw anything at her in Argentina. This came after the crowd at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City kept throwing friendship bracelets at her while she performed, causing her to duck and dodge aims continuously.
While Swift’s incident was not major, Bebe Rexha wasn’t so lucky. The singer found herself hospitalized after a fan launched their cell phone at the singer’s face while she was performing. In a fan-captured video Rexha is seen on stage when the phone hits her in the head. She was obviously hurt and had her hand over her eye before leaving the stage.
The In the Name of Love singer later shared a photo on Instagram with the caption, “I’m good.” The photo showed a bruised eye and her holding her thumb up, indicating “all good.” The person who attacked her was later identified and charged with assault.
Harry Styles, on his “Love On Tour” show, hit repeatedly at different venues. Once in July he was hit in the face while performing in Vienna in July. In another incident, in November, it was reported that a fan threw Skittles at him during his show. And a month before that, the singer was hit in the groin with a water bottle at the United Center in Chicago. He was seen wincing in pain saying, “Now that’s unfortunate.”
Clearly, fans — or trollers — need to stop spending so much time hating!
