Harry Styles Addresses Fans’ Speculation About A Possible One Direction Band Reunion
After Harry Styles teased One Direction fans with a post on his Instagram story where he wore a vintage One Direction T-shirt, the singer has come out to clear the air.
The T-shirt was one from the band’s 2012 Up All Night tour that features headshots of him and his former band members, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik. After sharing the picture, the talented artist quickly deleted it, but fans had already taken screenshots of the photo and it spread around the internet like wildfire.
Deleting the picture sparked even more rumors by fans who believed the Grammy-winning artist was planning a reunion with his former band colleagues. Immediately, the information quickly spread, and fans started tweeting about it. For hours, the hashtag “HE DELETED IT,” trended on Twitter.
Closing off his Love on Tour world tour in Auckland, New Zealand, on Tuesday, the As It Was hitmaker addressed the picture, saying he accidentally posted the picture he took for himself.
“Maybe, like some people, you want to keep something to yourself… and maybe one day you will accidentally post it on your Instagram Story,” he laughed, telling fans at the Auckland concert.
Despite his clarification, fans still doubt whether the star singer posted the picture mistakenly or if it was a tease for a possible reunion with his former band members. During his acceptance speech at the 2023 BRIT Awards in London, where he was awarded the British Artist of the Year, Harry made mention of his former band clique.
“I want to thank Niall, Louis, Liam, and Zayn because I wouldn’t be here without you, either. Thank you so much,” he stated publicly after he thanked his mom for signing him up for X Factor.
In January 2016, the One Direction band went on an indefinite break, with all five members pursuing their projects. Yet, the band’s records continue to sell out today, making them one of the most loved and best-selling boy bands ever.
Since the band went on an indefinite break, many clique members have aired their opinion about the band. In his first solo interview, Zayn Malik, who first left in 2015, stated that One Direction’s music was “generic as f***” and didn’t fit his style.
In 2017, Zayne also told US Weekly that he and Harry “never really spoke” during the five years he was a part of the band. The same year, he told Billboard that he was no longer communicating with any band members.
The One Direction band was formed in 2010 on the UK version of The X Factor, bringing together five artists who auditioned as solo artists. For the six years, the band remained functional, they made several hit songs like Night Changes, What Makes You Beautiful, Story Of My Life and reached many milestones before their breakup.
