James Bond Star George Lazenby Endorses Liam Hemsworth To Take Over The Role Of 007 In The Next James Bond Movie
The conversation about who will take over as the next James bond is still ongoing, and Liam Hemsworth, the 32-year-old Australian actor, is currently being considered for the role.
The consideration came after 54-year-old Daniel Craig left. Now, Australian actor George Lazenby, who also briefly played the role of James Bond in 1969, is recommending to producers that his fellow countryman, the Hunger Games star, is the actor to take on the role of James Bond.
While speaking to TMZ concerning the search for who will play the James Bond role, Lazenby says there are many reasons why Hemsworth deserves the job. The 83-year-old told TMZ that Hemsworth is “crazy enough, arrogant enough, confident enough, ambitious enough to take on the role.”
George informed TMZ that the new Bond needs to be someone who resides “within the commonwealth,” making an Australian actor the best fit for the role.
He adds, “Liam is a good-looking Aussie dude” and is considered young enough not just for the vacant role of playing James Bond but to continue appearing in the series for years to come while retaining his looks.
Before mentioning Liam Hemsworth for the role, George previously hinted that the Australian actress Margot Robbie could also make a “ballsy” James Bond.
At the time, he said he wanted the person that’d replace the vacant role Daniel Craig left to be female. He endorsed the star, saying, “I would rather see a woman on screen than a man, so it might be a good idea to have a woman play James Bond…Jane Bond. I think it’s a good idea.”
However, the James Bond producer, Barbara Broccoli, turned the idea down by repeatedly insisting that she was “not interested” in having a female superspy for the James Bond movie.
Now endorsing the 32-year-old Aussie star, Lanzeby continued telling TMZ in an interview that Liam has the “experience to deal with all the media scrutiny.” He added that casting Liam Hemsworth as a “good-looking Aussie dude” will help producers keep the character “under the British crown.”
However, the Marvel star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, met with the James Bond producers to discuss the role. Sources note that Aaron’s discussion with producer Barbara Broccoli went “very well.” Puck News reports that he had filmed a secret audition late last year for the role.
On the other hand, Lazenby played the super spy in one of the James Bond moves from 1969 (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service). He starred in the movie at the age of 29 and received a Golden Globe nomination for his one-time portrayal of the 007, and has turned down opportunities to make another James Bond movie.
