Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith Divorce
After a four-year marriage, celebrity couple Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith are calling it quits. The 37-year-old British actress filed for a divorce from the 45-year-old Dawson’s Creek alum due to irreconcilable differences.
According to TMZ, she will be represented by Laura Wasser, one of Hollywood’s top divorce lawyers. Her petitions include a joint custody arrangement for their three-year-old daughter Juno Rose Diana.
The date of separation listed was September 13, just a day after Joshua and Jodie attended the New York Fashion Week. According to the court documents, neither party is asking for spousal support even in the absence of a prenuptial agreement.
Back in September 2022, rumors about the two separating surfaced after they unfollowed each other on their social media accounts. The sudden move came as a surprise because the two have always been known to share plenty of loved-up photos and posts.
The speculation that they were having marriage woes died down when they refollowed one another. This was followed by Joshua gushing about his wife during an interview with E! News.
During the talk, the Canadian actor said, “She is undeniably one of the most beautiful women on the planet. And she always smashes it when she’s on the red carpet. That is truly a wonder to behold. But I will tell you there is nothing like waking up in the morning, opening my eyes, and seeing her face in the morning.”
However, an article by BuzzFeed News claims that there were several indications of the impending divorce. Despite posting affectionate messages on social media in the past, Joshua has been more curt and significantly less effusive in his captions. Lately, there have been no lengthy birthday greetings and superlative compliments for his wife.
The ex-couple married in 2019 after meeting each other in 2018 through mutual friends. In the beginning, the two insisted that their romance was just casual. Jodie even revealed that their relationship started with a one-night stand.
In 2021, Jodie candidly shared on Late Night with Seth Meyers that even after a quick romance, the couple was still going strong. She jokingly said that their one-night stand had been going on for several years.
During the casual conversation, Jodie shared how they met at a party and felt an instant connection. She described the encounter by saying, “First of all, I saw him before he saw me, and when I saw him, I was like, ‘I want that,’ and then when he saw me, I just pretended like I didn’t see him.”
She also revealed that she was not impressed with Joshua’s opening line but was eventually wooed when he followed her around during the party. The two began officially dating in October 2018 and married in 2019 after Jodie proposed to Joshua in Nicaragua on New Year’s Eve.
Before tying the knot with Jodie, Joshua was known to date several A-list celebrities, including Katie Holmes, Brittany Daniel, Rosario Dawson, Diane Kruger, Shafia West, and Alyssa Julya Smith.
