Lady Gaga Reveals How Michael Polansky Stole Her Heart

Lady Gaga knew Michael Polansky was special from the moment they met. The Bad Romance singer recently shared that what drew her to the businessman wasn’t just his success — it was his kindness.
“From the moment that I met Michael, he had the most warm and kind disposition of maybe anyone that I had met in my whole life,” she said in a heartfelt interview on The Interview podcast from The New York Times on March 8.
The 38-year-old singer, who has been open about the struggles of fame and personal relationships, became emotional while discussing what made Michael different from anyone else. “…I knew Michael was genuine because he wanted to be my friend,” she said. “He didn’t want to do any of the things that the other people wanted to do. He wanted to take walks with me. He took me rock climbing.”
For Gaga, friendship was the foundation of their relationship. “It was really hard not having that,” she admitted. “Being actually friends with somebody is a very specific thing. You can sit in a room together and not talk. You can take long walks and talk about your family. You can obsess over a new recipe and make it.”
The couple first sparked romance rumors when they were spotted kissing at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas in 2020. Their relationship became public soon after, with a PDA-filled weekend in Miami during the Super Bowl that same year.
In April 2024, engagement rumors swirled when Gaga was seen wearing a massive diamond ring. Months later, she confirmed the exciting news, calling Michael her “fiancé” at the Paris Olympics.
Ahead of her Saturday Night Live performance on March 8, Gaga shared a fun detail about their first date with Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan. “Michael flew to Vegas when I was doing my show to take me on our first date,” she recalled, “and before we even sat down, I said, ‘Do you want marriage and kids?’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, I do.’ And I said, ‘Okay, great, do you want some champagne?’ And he said, ‘Sure.’”
