Lenny Kravitz Talks Bold ‘TK421’ Video, Says He Didn’t Know He Would Be Nude
Lenny Kravitz, the iconic rock star at the age of 59, surprised fans with his daring music video for TK421, where he bared it all. He recently shared his unexpected experience during an interview with PEOPLE at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards.
The concept for the risqué video, directed by Tanu Muino, initially didn’t include nudity, according to Lenny. He explained, “She came to me and said, ‘This is what we’re going to do. You’re going to get out of bed, you’re going to get ready for the day, you’re going to get dressed, and then you’re going to walk out of the house.'”
However, as Lenny recalled, on the day of filming, Tanu surprised him by asking him to shed his clothes. Despite the unexpected twist, Lenny found the experience enjoyable, saying, “But it was fun. It was fun, and I had a lot of fun doing it.”
The TK421 music video, released in October 2023, opens with the singer confidently waking up in bed, completely unclothed, while the energetic tune of the song plays in the background. He proceeds to captivate viewers with his naked dance moves, cigarette in hand, and a sensuous shower scene.
In the song’s lyrics, Lenny sings, “All aboard, now it’s time to face your fear / The conversations in your mind / You can tell me how it really makes you feel / And I will promise you it will be fine.”
Later in the video, Lenny dons a leather ensemble and grooves to the catchy tune before delivering a dramatic finale that leaves a lasting impression.
Prior to the music video, he had made a splash on TikTok by reviving his famous giant scarf from a 2012 photo. He greeted fans in his debut post, saying, “Grab your big scarf, it’s the first day of fall.”As a legendary rocker, Lenny is gearing up for the release of his 12th studio album, Blue Electric Light, scheduled for March 15. This album follows his previous works, Raise Vibration in 2018 and Strut in 2014.
