Michelle Pfeiffer Reveals She Quietly Became A Grandmother
Michelle Pfeiffer just revealed a life update that has fans smiling: she’s officially a grandmother. The 67-year-old actress dropped the news during her appearance on the SmartLess podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes. While chatting about her career and how she approaches acting now, Michelle admitted she has less interest in taking on projects that keep her away from home for too long. That’s when she casually shared why her priorities have shifted: “I might announce on this show — that I became a grandmother last year.”
The actress laughed as she explained she’s been keeping it quiet but described the experience as nothing short of bliss. “…It’s heaven. It’s ridiculous,” she said. “And if I had known that I was going to be a grandmother, I wouldn’t have taken on so much work, but I’ve enjoyed everything and I’m really grateful.”
Michelle didn’t share details about which one of her two children welcomed the baby, but she couldn’t hide her joy. She and her husband, TV writer and producer David E. Kelley, are parents to Claudia, 32, and John, 31. The couple has always kept their family life private, with Michelle even stepping away from Hollywood for years to raise her kids.
She once described herself as “unhirable” because she was so selective about film projects while balancing motherhood. But when Claudia and John were grown, her kids were actually the ones who encouraged her to dive back into acting. “They said, ‘Mom, are you ever gonna go back to work?’” Michelle recalled during a 2023 podcast appearance.
Now, with her kids grown and a grandchild in the family, Michelle says she’s not only happier but also more at ease with her work. “Giving up that angst about the process has freed me up and I feel in some ways has made me better,” she explained.
