Nicole Kidman And Keith Urban’s 19-Year-Old Marriage Ends As Actress Files For Divorce
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s love story has officially come to an end after nearly two decades together. Just one day after reports surfaced that the couple had quietly separated, Nicole has now filed for divorce from the country star.
Court papers filed September 30, in Nashville, where the two have lived since 2007, citing irreconcilable differences. The filing also lists the date of separation as the same day.
The split closes the chapter on a 19-year marriage that began in June 2006, after they first crossed paths at a Los Angeles gala the year before. Together, they share two daughters, 17-year-old Sunday Rose and 14-year-old Faith Margaret.
Sources close to the actress say this was not the outcome she wanted. “Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,” one insider told PEOPLE.
Revealing she has been “fighting to save the marriage,” the source said, “Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another.”
The signs had reportedly been there for some time. Friends revealed the couple had already been living apart, with Nicole busy in London filming Practical Magic 2 this summer while Keith was on the road with his High and Alive World Tour. “People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,” another source shared.
It’s a striking turn for a couple that often spoke about their bond so openly. Just last year, Nicole described Keith as her “deep, deep love” in an interview with PEOPLE, and admitted she relied on him to calm her nerves before big events like the Met Gala. Even three months ago, she marked their 19th wedding anniversary with a tender Instagram post captioned, “Happy Anniversary Baby ❤️ @KeithUrban.”
