Peter Gallagher Praises Adam Brody’s Return To The Spotlight: “He’s So Talented”

Peter Gallagher is giving his former The O.C. co-star Adam Brody some well-deserved recognition. With Adam’s recent rise back into the limelight thanks to his new Netflix rom-com Nobody Wants This, the internet has been buzzing about the Adam Brody Renaissance. And Peter, who played Seth Cohen’s dad, Sandy Cohen, on the hit teen series, couldn’t be more thrilled.

“I wouldn’t go as far as being a proud dad,” Peter, 69, said at the opening night of Broadway’s Left on Tenth on October 23. “But I’m proud of him all the time as his friend and former TV dad.”

Peter shared that while he hasn’t seen Adam’s new show yet, he isn’t surprised by his success. “He’s so talented and I’m glad he’s still doing his thing,” he said, recalling the four seasons he and Adam worked together on The O.C.

It’s been over two decades since The O.C. first premiered, but the bond between Sandy and Seth Cohen remains memorable. Peter mentioned one unforgettable aspect of the show: the term “Chrismukkah,” coined by Adam’s character. “I just remember hearing Chrismukkah for the first time and thinking, ‘That’s brilliant. I think that’s gonna stick,’ and it did,” he stated..

Adam isn’t just getting praise from his on-screen dad. Rachel Bilson, who played his love interest Summer Roberts on The O.C., also expressed her excitement about his newfound success. At a SimpliSafe launch event earlier this month, Rachel shared her thoughts on what fans are calling Brody’s “renaissance.”

“I feel like it’s always been there. But if it is, it’s well deserved,” Rachel, 43, said. 

Nobody Wants This, which debuted on Netflix on September 26, follows Adam’s character, Rabbi Noah Roklov, as he falls in love with Kristen Bell’s Joanne, a sex podcaster, in a heartfelt and humorous storyline. The show quickly gained a huge fan following, and was renewed for a second season soon after its release.

Rachel added that she couldn’t be happier for Adam and Kristen. “I hear everyone loves it and I couldn’t be more excited, ’cause literally Kristen and Adam both I love, and are like my people. So I’m really excited about it and excited for them,” she stated.
