Scarlet Witch’s Elizabeth Olsen Admits She Doesn’t Miss Her Character In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Elizabeth Olsen became Wanda Maximoff, better known as the Scarlet Witch, eight years ago. When asked recently if she misses playing the character, the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley, fashion moguls and child stars, surprisingly mentioned that she does not miss playing her powerful character.
In the 2015 movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, 34-year-old Elizabeth debuted as the Scarlet Witch. She returned the following year to Captain America: Civil War in 2018 and to Avengers: Infinity Wars and Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
After the Avengers installments, she had her own TV series called WandaVision and then made another appearance in last year’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
As of this date, Elizabeth has no plans to return to the big screen as the Scarlet Witch. But the actress doesn’t seem to mind at all because she shared with Meghann Fahy, The White Lotus star, in a variety of actors-on-actors interview that although she doesn’t miss it, she is immensely proud of what they were able to do for her character.
The younger Olsen mentioned that she had been Scarlett Witch for the last decade and loved every moment.
But in a twist, Elizabeth revealed, “And I think the reason why I am not calling (Marvel president) Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do.”
She further explained that the WandaVision 2021 TV series was a surprising opportunity. This is where she was reunited with Vision, played by Paul Bettany.
Confident that she gave her Scarlet Witch character her best, Elizabeth boldly mentioned, “If someone were to tell me that I’m fired from Marvel movies, I would feel proud of what we made. And I really am just trying to figure out how to load up other films and characters so it becomes less about the Marvel of it all.”
Meghann was happy with her answer and commended Elizabeth’s answer as being great and honest.
There is no specific news on whether Elizabeth will be back in the MCU, given that Scarlet Witch had an uncertain fate in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
Recall that in the movie, Wanda was last seen crushed under an enormous building after sacrificing herself to ultimately destroy the Darkhold, the evil book of sorcery that tarnished her.
But the twist is that what was destroyed was just a version of Wanda, and the continuous exploration and discovery of the multiverse provides a massive opportunity for versions of Wanda to appear in another area.
Last year, Kevin Feige acknowledged that there is so much for everyone to explore. He said that they hadn’t touched or projected many of Wanda’s core storylines, primarily if you base them on the comics.
And in what appeared to be a cryptic afterthought, the Marvel president mentioned that he could work with Elizabeth for another decade if possible because, in the multiverse, anything can happen. Everyone will have to wait and see.
