Teyana Taylor Raises Concerns About Child Safety In Former Husband Iman Shumpert’s Care
Teyana Taylor has voiced her concerns about the safety of her children when they are with her former NBA star husband, Iman Shumpert. The actress, 33, has made serious allegations regarding Iman’s ability to provide proper care for their two daughters, 3-year-old Rue and 8-year-old Junie.
According to Teyana, when Iman spends time with their children, he consistently fails to meet their basic needs. She claims that he has even neglected to feed the children while they were in his care, despite being in the marital residence with them.
Furthermore, she alleges that the former NBA star has been using marijuana and has been under the influence while looking after their children.
One incident in particular has drawn attention to the situation, as Teyana claims that Iman placed both girls in a rideshare vehicle in Chicago, resulting in the children being dropped off at the United Center in a general population area while he used a private driver. This alleged lapse in judgment could have put the minors at risk, and Teyana said she is deeply troubled by these actions.
The court filing made by Teyana states, “Respondent consistently demonstrates a clear disregard for the safety of the minor children.”
The actress filed for divorce in January 2023 but waited approximately nine months to publicly announce their separation. During that time, she expressed her commitment to maintaining a united front with Iman for the sake of co-parenting their children.
In an Instagram post, she clarified that infidelity was not the reason for their separation and emphasized their strong friendship, business partnership, and co-parenting abilities.
In her words, “To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children.”
The post read further, “Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married, we ain’t ever played with or about THAT. We just keep y’all asses out the group chat lol, which is the reason we’ve been able to successfully & peacefully separate without all of the outside noise. The only reason I’m even sharing THIS part of the chat is because the narratives are getting a little out of hand & it’s unfair to all parties involved. I hope this provided some clarity for y’all. Okay AunTey taking y’all back out the chat bye!”
