Zendaya’s Reps Refute Rumors of Zendaya Being Denied Entry to Upscale Restaurant in Rome
A recent report by the Daily Mail claimed that Zendaya’s restaurant outing didn’t go according to plan in Rome last Saturday. The report stated that the movie star was denied entry to one of the country’s more upscale restaurants due to her choice of outfit.
However, Zendaya’s rep Scott Newman addressed this report, exclusively stating to Page Six, “This is completely false.”
The Daily Mail report stated that the restaurant, which follows a strict dress code, apparently had to say no to the 26-year-old actress as she was wearing cargo pants and a black tube top. Zendaya and her group had plans to sample the Italian city’s best restaurant, Terrazza Borromini, but the dress policy was smart casual.
According to Daily Mail, the star and her crew secured their reservations but could not enter the eatery because of her attire. Some friends of Zendaya were also not wearing outfits that complied with the dress code.
Zendaya was photographed looking unimpressed during the conversation with the restaurant personnel, and the group ended up foregoing the restaurant and instead settled for the pizzeria nearby.
But this report turns out to be completely wrong. Newman clarified that the group wanted to explore a new restaurant and simply realized they had already dined at Terrazza Borromini before. So, they decided to leave and go to a different establishment.
Even her assistant Darnell Appling took to Instagram stating, “Well this is a bald head lie.”
He confirmed Newman’s version of events and said, “We never got denied anywhere. We walked into the building [and] realized we ate there before when we seen the stairs. The same stairs Zendaya slipped on last year and posted about 😩😂 We all wanted to try a new restaurant and went somewhere else to do so. We actually never went upstairs and interacted with anyone. We talked amongst ourselves in the downstairs lobby. This whole story is a lie. But y’all be blessed tho.”
The Euphoria actress was seen that day wearing leather brogues and a Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama bag, and has, in fact, been serving glamorous looks throughout her trip.
Zendaya has been in Italy to attend the opening of Bulgari Hotel Roma, Bulgari’s new luxury hotel. Funnily enough, she almost had an actual wardrobe fiasco as she lost her original outfit for the opening during transit.
But the Dune star pulled a gorgeous look together with the help of her stylist Law Roach, featuring a chainmail/mesh-style tank top that was enveloped in crystals paired with a sleek black blazer.
She also took to Instagram, sharing how she created a stunning look for the event: “Fun fact…..my dress for tonights @bulgarihotels event got lost in transit, so we got this suit an hour before the event. When in doubt…a @maisonvalentino suit:) @luxurylaw”
Before heading over to the Bullhotel opening, Zendaya was in Venice to attend the Bulgari Mediterranea High Jewelry event. She was joined by fellow Bulgari brand ambassadors, Anne Hathaway and Priyanka Chopra.
