Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt Share Their Secrets To A Happy Marriage: “Have Fun Together”

Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt are proving that marriage doesn’t have to be complicated. The Bachelor in Paradise alums recently opened up about their relationship, sharing sweet insights and playful banter while reflecting on life as a married couple. The pair, who tied the knot in 2022, described married life as smooth sailing. 

“Married life is great,” Joe, 38, said with a grin. Serena, 27, chimed in, “Pretty easy, which I feel like is a good sign.”

For them, not much changed after saying “I do.” They were already living together, and with no kids yet, they’re simply enjoying their time as husband and wife. 

“It’s fun!” Serena added. When asked about their biggest relationship advice, Serena kept it simple: “It doesn’t have to be that serious. Have fun together. Enjoy life, enjoy your relationship.”

She also joked that the biggest practical shift after marriage was realizing they might need to draft a will. But overall, she emphasized that marriage shouldn’t feel like a major shift if the foundation is strong. “The hope is that things stay as easy and effortless as they were before you get married. And they have, so that’s great,” she added.

For Joe, communication is everything. He believes that bottling up emotions is a recipe for disaster. According to him, keeping things inside causes resentment to build up, and before you know it, you’re a few years in and you’re unhappy.” 

Serena quickly clarified with a laugh, “Oh, my God, he’s not talking from experience!” Joe agreed, adding, “No, but I’m saying that’s kind of how it happens. I’m somebody, I can’t keep anything in, so it’s just all out.”

Serena laughed again, teasing her husband: “Yeah, Joe experiences every single emotion every single day — multiple times.”

Joe and Serena first met in 2021 on Bachelor in Paradise season 7. A year later, they had a quiet courthouse wedding in New York City before throwing a grand celebration in Charleston, South Carolina. Looking back, the couple admitted that having two anniversaries can be a bit confusing. “We don’t know which one to celebrate!” Serena joked, while Joe added with a smirk, “That’s what comes with going on reality TV and meeting.”

Despite being married for over a year, Serena says Joe still manages to surprise her. “There’s so many things about him that I thought may die off after the honeymoon stage. Joe still just continues to surprise me with little gifts and thoughtful gestures and that really is who he is, and I love that.”
