Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Announce Engagement In Fairytale Garden Proposal
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce just made their love story official. The pop superstar and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 35, shared news of their engagement on Instagram on August 26 with dreamy photos from a flower-filled garden proposal.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Taylor captioned the post, flashing her dazzling new ring while leaning into Travis’s embrace.
Travis popped the question on bended knee beneath a trellis of pink and white flowers, presenting Taylor with a custom ring designed alongside Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. The antique-inspired piece features an old mine brilliant cut diamond on a gold band. Celebrity jewelry George Khalife, aka George the Jeweler, estimates that the stone could be around 20 carats and could cost from $3.5 to $5 million.
As George said, “The ring seems to come with some serious history! Old mine diamonds are rare and hard to come by. It means the diamond is naturally occurring, and hand-cut, using techniques that we rarely see anymore! The whole look feels really antique, which I think suits Taylor perfectly.”
The engagement is the latest milestone in a romance that began in summer 2023, when Travis famously admitted on his New Heights podcast that he’d tried and failed to give Taylor a friendship bracelet with his number during her Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium. A few months later, she surprised fans by showing up at his game, cheering from his suite alongside his mom, Donna, and leaving the stadium hand in hand with him.
Since then, their relationship has played out in both stadiums and studios. Earlier this month, Taylor even joined Travis and his brother Jason on New Heights for an episode that broke a Guinness World Record for the most concurrent YouTube podcast views. During the episode, she described her now-fiancé as “a vibe booster in everyone’s life.”
“He’s like, when you take a picture on your phone and you put the, like you push the enhance color button, that’s what you do to everyone’s life,” she added.
Travis, for his part, has shared glimpses of their off-season adventures together from snowy Montana getaways to matching baseball caps that read “captain” and “first mate.”
