Selena Gomez Announces New Album With Fiancé Benny Blanco
Selena Gomez is ready to share her heart with fans through music once again! On February 13, she surprised everyone with the announcement of her upcoming album, I Said I Love You First, which she created alongside her fiancé, Benny Blanco. Set to release on March 21, this marks their first full project together as a couple.
Selena and Benny have been dating for over a year and made their engagement public in December 2024 via Instagram. Now, they are celebrating their love story through music. “I always trick you guys 🥰. My NEW album I Said I Love You First with my best friend @itsbennyblanco is out on 3/21 🖤,” the singer shared in an Instagram post.
She also revealed that the first single, Scared of Loving You, is already available on streaming platforms, along with pre-orders for merchandise and signed products.
Benny, 36, showed his support in the comments, writing, “i love you baby.” The couple co-wrote Scared of Loving You alongside 8-time Grammy winner Finneas, who also co-produced the track with Benny. The song debuted with a lyric video, offering a first glimpse into the emotional depth of the album.
According to a press release, the album provides “a unique window into their relationship,” chronicling their journey from before they met to falling in love and envisioning their future. “This album came together organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively,” it states.
Long before their engagement, Selena and Benny had a history of musical collaboration. Benny co-produced Kill Em with Kindness and Same Old Love for her 2015 album Revival. They later teamed up for the 2019 hit I Can’t Get Enough, where Selena appeared in a playful music video with Benny dressed as a giant teddy bear. Their most recent collaboration came in August 2023 with her song Single Soon.
Selena has always been open about her career ambitions. In January 2024, she revealed on the SmartLess podcast that she was considering taking a break from music. “I do feel like I have one more album in me but I would probably choose acting,” she said.
“I’m going to want to chill because I’m tired. I wanted to be an actress. I never really intended on being a singer full-time, but apparently that hobby turned into something else.”
Just a year later, in January 2025, Benny teased their musical collaboration on TikTok, hinting at what was to come. Now, I Said I Love You First is almost here, and fans are eagerly counting down the days.
