Bruce Willis’ “Blended Family” Is His Best Shot Against Devastating Brain Condition
When it comes to Hollywood’s tough guys known for their action films and risque high-octane movies, Bruce Willis’ name is at the top of the list. And right now, Bruce is making a name for fighting a personal battle unlike any he has in his reel life.
Bruce has announced that he was diagnosed with a brain condition last March. This illness would eventually affect and limit his ability to understand, speak, and write the language.
The 67-year-old Die Hard actor stepped back and announced that he’d be retiring so he could deal with his medical condition.
Willis is fighting his most brutal real-life battle yet – Aphasia. According to him, he gets the motivation and strength to fight this condition from his “blended” family, which includes his ex-wife Demi Moore.
The actor provided a glimpse of what life has been like after the diagnosis to his fans and well-wishers. You guessed it right – the highlight of his life now is Bruce’s “blended” family. He is surrounded and supported by his wife, Emma Heming, his ex-wife Demi Moore, and their five daughters.
Bruce has admitted that this female-dominated blended family is the most powerful support system that backs him up and is with him every step of the way.
Demi first shared the photo on her Instagram last Tuesday, where the family posed in front of their Christmas tree. At the blended family’s front and center were the beaming Bruce with Emma, Demi, and their daughters: 34-years-old Rumer, 31-years-old Scout, 28-years-old Tallulah, 10-years-old Mabel Ray, and 8-years-old Evelyn Penn. Demi captioned the photo, “We are family. Getting into the holiday spirit.”
The actor smiling widely can be seen as an indication that he is still managing his well-being, but a more powerful image was just shared with the public, and that’s the people Bruce Willis holds dear in his heart. It is his family and the remarkable bond he shares with his ex-partner Demi that’s been his guiding light in these difficult times.
Bruce and Demi were married from 1987 to 1998, and despite their divorce, the two remained supportive friends to each other. When Bruce walked the aisle again to marry Emma in 2009, Demi and her then-partner, Ashton Kutcher, were present during the wedding.
It was in 1998 when Bruce and Demi called it quits after a decade of being together. During that same year, Bruce shared his enduring friendship with Demi, and they are both committed to co-parenting their children. He once told The Rolling Stone how very close he still is with Demi and, surprisingly, after the divorce, their bond became stronger.
Additionally, Bruce mentioned that his and Demi’s marriage was problematic from the beginning because of Hollywood’s magnifying glass on their relationship. Yes, is Hollywood’s gossip mill that took its toll on the marriage.
Yet, over the years, Bruce’s blended family has been his pride, and he has always made it clear that his children – all five – are his top priority. He also shared that he and Demi have made a lifelong commitment that they will stay close for the sake of their children and that there would be no bouts of jealousy in the relationship.
As Bruce continues to make the most of his debilitating brain condition, knowing his family is there for him in all aspects gives him more reason to fight.
Bruce cherishes his blended family, which is all he needs as he continues to battle on.
