Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for President? Wrestler Approached To Run for Office
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed that several political parties had approached him and encouraged him to enter politics. According to sources, they want him to run for the Oval Office in the next US election.
For fans who have been closely following the wrestler’s career, this may not be surprising news. After all, Dwayne has already shared that he might enter into a different field—politics. During Trevor Noah’s podcast, What Now?, Dwayne shared, “At the end of the year in 2022, I got a visit from the parties asking me if I was to run and if I could run.”
During a poll in 2021, results revealed that 46% of Americans would have his back should he decide to make a bid as the next president of the United States.
The 51-year-old San Andreas actor admitted that he was flattered by the people’s support and was honored by the poll’s outcome.
Dwayne said, “That was an interesting poll that happened, and that really moved me. I was really blown away, and I was really honored.”
Interestingly, Dwayne seems to be seriously weighing his future as a politician. “If that’s ultimately what the people would want, then of course I would consider it,” he said. He also comically posted on Instagram, “I don’t think our Founding Fathers EVER envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club—but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve you, the people.”
Until now, Dwayne has kept his lips sealed and has not dropped any names about the political parties that came to him. He has also avoided giving details about which party he would want to represent.
The Scorpion King said, “It was a big deal, and it came out of the blue. It was one after the other, and they brought up that poll, and they also brought up their deep-dive research.”
Dwayne previously shared his hope of wanting to reunite America. Recall that it was in 2021 when the Hollywood star admitted that he could run for president with the primary purpose of bringing the country together.
During his guesting at Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, he revealed, “I do have that goal to unite our country, and I also feel that if this is what the people want, then I will do that.”
During his podcast conversation with Noah, Dwayne said, “It was one after the other, and they brought up that poll, and they also brought up their deep-dive research that would prove that should I ever go down that road [I’d be a real contender].”
Dwayne has not been seriously involved in any political activities in the past. Before shifting to acting, he was a professional wrestler for the WWF where he had a successful eight-year career. After entering Hollywood, he has become one of the industry’s highest-paid and highest-grossing actors. Some movies under his name are Skyscraper, Baywatch, Central Intelligence, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Rampage.
