Amanda Seyfried Battles A Wardrobe Malfunction At Sunday Night’s Critics Choice Awards As Dress Keeps Ripping
Amanda Seyfried suffered a wardrobe malfunction at Sunday night’s Critics Choice Awards which held at Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
The award-winning star stepped forward on the red carpet looking like a “statue” in a gorgeous archival Dior gown, which she was later seen wearing a black jacket on top after the “old” dress kept “ripping.”
Elizabeth Stewart styled the Dior gold archival dress worn by the award-winning actress. In photographs, the metallic design of the dress glistened, but the Dropout star revealed to reporters that the dress wasn’t fully picture-perfect.
Amanda, 37, revealed to Access Hollywood during an interview on the red carpet that the gown was “ripping and actually breaking.” As one of her tassel-embellished sleeves slipped down her arm, the actress jokingly said, “I’m just going to take off my dress.” Embracing the fashion circumstance, she added, “honestly, it’s old; it’s beautiful.”
The dress the award-winning actress wore to the Critics Choice awards is from Dior’s spring-summer 2020 collection and is cut from a piece of twisted, fringed gold lamé chiffon. She matched her look with Cartier jewelry, gold liquid metallic Stuart Weitzman heels, a bold red lip — Lancôme’s L’Absolu Rouge Intimatte Lipstick in French Touch — and a chic, relaxed ponytail.
At the start of the award event, Amanda said the dress made her feel like a winner. “It’s a statue dress, so if I don’t get one, at least I look like one,” she said.
Despite the fashion crisis, the actress still had a lot of wins to soak into at the Sunday night event. She got the award for best actress (limited series or movie made for television) for her role in Dropout.
By the time she took the stage in the evening to accept her award in the hit Hulu series alongside other cast and crew, the state of the dress had worsened. To curb the situation, the star threw on a black jacket and let her hair loose to cover the broken gown.
The Critics Choice award winner is no stranger to fashion fiascos at award shows. For a virtual 2021 Golden Globes awards, the star’s at-home glam — styled again by Stewart — featured a coral Dolce & Gabbana dress with flower-like ruffled sleeves, which Amanda told E! put her in a “sunny, springy, and glamorous” mood.
