Kim Kardashian And Her Famous Clan May Not Be Invited To This Year’s Met Gala
Celebrities look forward to the annual Met Gala, but this year, the Kardashian-Jenner clan may not be among the guests.
Anna Wintour, the Vogue Editor-in-Chief, who supervises the guest list for the fashion celebration, has decided that the event will be Kardashian and Jenner-free this year.
Last year’s Met Gala marked the first time that the famous siblings Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie were all invited to the event. Even their momager, Kris Jenner, received an invitation.
Vogue has not officially commented on whether the sisters and their matriarch will walk the red carpet at this year’s gathering.
But despite not being invited, sources say that the clan can still choose to attend the event sans the invite. And contrary to the speculations, a source close to the family mentioned that there’s no truth in the news that the famous family did not receive an invitation.
Although last year’s event was the first time that Kourtney and Khloé walked the carpet and attended the ceremony, according to Khloé, she had several other opportunities to become part of the affair. She disclosed this last November 2022 during their family’s reality show on Hulu, The Kardashians, where she mentioned that she had been invited in the past, but it was her decision not to go.
Khloé also revealed that she’s not a fan of red carpets and wants to be clear about that. The Revenge Body influencer also shared that Kim, considered a Met Gala veteran, convinced her to attend the event with the whole family.
Anna’s alleged selectiveness comes after the event received severe backlash for not living up to its standards. Anna was criticized for extending the invitation to lower-tiered celebrities and even to some influencers when the gathering was initially intended for the best of Hollywood.
Kim had her first Met Gala experience in 2013 with her ex-husband Kanye West, and she later admitted that the incident had not been that pleasant for her. This may have been because she was heavily pregnant and wore a jubilant floral dress. Not many raved about her outfit; some even compared her to an old-school sofa.
Despite the criticism, Kim returned to attend the following year’s Met Gala. In 2019, she arrived wearing a Thierry Mugler dress. The socialite boasted that it was the late fashion legend’s first design in 20 years. Her outfit was a shimmering flesh-colored dress with dangling crystals that resembled raindrops.
The social gathering was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, and in 2021, Kim attended again wearing an all-black Balenciaga bodysuit. Kim’s edgy look in 2021 was the stark opposite of what she wore last year, which was the original dress that Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang “Happy Birthday” to then US President John F. Kennedy.
Her choice of outfit was not approved by many preservationists, who had fears that the iconic dress may get damaged.
