New Revelation: Diddy Allegedly Beat Up Ex Kim Porter’s Music Exec Boyfriend In 2000
Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly attacked his ex Kim Porter’s boyfriend, music executive Shakir Stewart, in 2000, according to a recent exposé by Rolling Stone. On Tuesday, May 28, Rolling Stone published accounts from various figures in Diddy’s circle who claim that the rapper broke a chair over Shakir’s head during a heated altercation.
The incident took place in Italy during L.A. Reid’s wedding. Diddy, Kim, and Shakir were all in attendance. After the ceremony, Diddy reportedly went to Stewart’s room and violently attacked him. “He left him bleeding on a hotel floor in Italy,” Stewart’s mother, Portia, told Rolling Stone.
She further explained, “He had to have stitches and then [Diddy] threatened him … ‘I’m going to kill you’ … That’s when I said you need to get out of this business. This man is crazy.”
Diddy and Kim had a tumultuous relationship that began in 1994 and continued on and off until 2007. Their relationship ultimately ended when Kim discovered that the rapper had fathered a daughter, Chance, with another woman, Sarah Chapman, while Kim was pregnant with their twin daughters, D’Lila and Jessie.
Kim also dated Shakir during one of her breaks from Diddy, which reportedly angered the rapper. The incident in Italy is one of several allegations of violence and abuse that have recently come to light against Diddy.
Former Bad Boy rapper Mark Curry told Rolling Stone that Kim endured a lot of hardship during her relationship with Diddy. “I remember Kim used to go through a lot of stuff. If you live around them, you get to see the toxic relationship.… I think every relationship he had that I experienced around him was like that,” Mark revealed.
Kim herself had previously told Essence that while Diddy was dating Jennifer Lopez, he would call her “50, 60 times a day,” making her feel that her life was not her own.
“He was very, very intrusive,” she added.
The Rolling Stone report also follows several other serious allegations against Diddy. On May 23, April Lampos and her attorneys filed a new lawsuit obtained by PEOPLE, accusing Diddy of battery, sexual assault, negligent infliction of emotional distress, and violation of the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law. April detailed four “terrifying sexual encounters” with Diddy, including one involving Porter.
April alleged that Diddy forced her to take ecstasy and have sex with Kim, which led to retaliation and April being fired from her job. This recent filing comes after Diddy’s ex, Cassie Ventura, released a statement following the publication of a video showing Diddy physically abusing her in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.
In addition to April and Cassie, Diddy faces sexual assault and harassment lawsuits from four other women and one man. Despite the mounting allegations, Diddy has denied all claims. In a statement obtained by PEOPLE in December, he said, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy.”
He continued, “Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”
However, Diddy did admit to and apologize for his conduct in a surveillance video released by CNN on May 17, which showed him grabbing, shoving, and kicking Cassie during their 2016 altercation. “I was f—ed up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” he said in the Instagram video captioned, “I’m truly sorry.”
